Sokhapour (Armenian Onion Soup)


  • 1 kg small onions (to be added to the soup wholly)
  • 300 grams of beef
  • 1 cup of canned chickpeas
  • 2 tbsp tomato & pepper paste mix
  • 2 tbsp of butter
  • Greens, salt & pepper to taste


  1. Thinly slice the meat and cook on the stove.
  2. Add the paste mix, the rinsed chickpeas, and the seasoning.
  3. Cook until the chickpeas and the beef are ready.
  4. Add the onions and cook some more.
  5. Remove the soup from the stove
  6. Add the greens for garnishing
  7. Serve hot and enjoy.
